Lee Mercer, high school drop out, makes an attempt to join the most powerful gang in the city-the Tarantulas. After getting caught on his first test to join the Tarantulas, Lee's financial struggling father sends him to his aunt's to work in her cafe. While working there Lee encounters one serious problem-rude costumers (which he soon solves with his fists). After working at the cafe for a little while Lee begins to expand his career he starts a courier business and does several other domestic tasks, while working Lee meets Cutter a middle aged mentally handicapped man who might just be Lee's only ever friend.
Lee Mercer's issues in life are that he cannot control his anger, he uses his fists to solve all of his problems and not his words. This issue has lead Lee to a struggling life of loneliness and despair. The plan to fix the issues is in the book Cutter's plan to leave his peace keeping gear to Lee and then let him figure out what it means. But another plan would be for Cutter to send Lee to complete his mission as a peace keeper; to terminate all war. In doing this Lee would soon realise that on the battlefield shooting someone makes them return fire with a mind set on vengeance. Lee would have to realise that is not the way to solve any issue no matter what it would be first and foremost you must negotiate, argue and/or reason with someone to solve the issue before using any sort of weapon. This may also teach Lee to appreciate what he has in life.
"I was once a peace keeper on the battlefield alas those are the only memories my twisted mind won't forget." Cutter
I rate this section of the book a red skittle because it was filled with action, humour and a little bit of romance. This book is a very good book for any teen, it's easy to read and it also has a moral to the story that I think any teen would benefit from learning.
